Buried Treasure, Sunken Treasure (158)

Ships sink in coastal waters and out at sea. Depth can allow for disappearance, or recovery. It is a vision we have witnessed in many movies, including the big budget, special effects marvel- Titanic. We felt the cold. We felt the vibrations as the ship succumbed to gravity and was swallowed by the Atlantic.

Pirate ships, trade ships, naval vessels- so many different seafaring vehicles have been taken by the tumultuous, unforgiving sea. They carry to the bottom hidden treasure, objects that may seem insignificant to many, but to those on board- they were part of their story. They brought them on board for a reason.

The loss of life at sea is astounding. The ocean is as unforgiving as it is chaotic and vast. Oil tankers capsize, sail boats fold under the weight of heavy storms. No matter how small or large the sea will swallow, if it can. And yet, it offers of itself creatures and plants so plentiful, and depths of territory so deep, we have seen less of it -than we have of space.

The treasure it offers is endless. If you search hard enough, with the aid of science, some find sunken treasure long forgotten. Museums are full of the objects found. The booty recovered. The stories of seafarers and shipwrecks.

On land- X marks the spot. The old adage of let treasure hunt begin. Far and wide people search using GPS for caches either purposefully hidden or lost to time. From archaeological digs to secret jewel pursuits. Many people are seeking the riches of a hidden prize.

The lottery is proof of that. Cereal boxes of old, advertised more about the toy, than the cereal itself. Secrets, mystery and the whisper of the unknown have always brought about adventure and discovery. The search for fame and fortune are alive and well in the minds of curious spirits.

The important thing, is to not dedicate your life to finding a sunken or buried treasure. To try and find a free solution to well needed lesson. Experience is a gift. Enlightenment as some call it, is a reserve that once tapped into- will unfold into the most brilliant paragon. Growth is free.

The journey to self-awareness and personal wisdom is priceless, but it is also difficult. We have found ourselves at the bottom of the sea, after a treacherous descent. We have dug a whole so deep we just lied down in surrender. We have stumbled in the dark, injured our souls. Lost friendships. Broke the spirits of others. We have regrets and guilt and utter sadness.

But, we also have transformations. We recognize our strength and overcome our past mistakes. We have fallen and dug our way out, from the cavernous trap we carved for ourselves. Depression, anxiety, melancholy- whatever your name for it is, it has wrapped itself around our ankles and anchored us into despair. We have been sunken and buried.

Within each of us however is the capacity to learn. To be better. To put others first. To listen. To respond and not react. To be mindful and kind. To bring about awareness in others with grace and a generosity of spirit. We are all beautiful souls, and yet we get caught up in the darkness. We find ourselves sunken and buried.

The glitter of the gold, found underneath the surface- is not monetary. The true treasure is self-awareness and showing yourself grace. Being kind to others. Forgiving and respectful. But most of all- guiding others to their X. Not becoming apart of the hoard of hungry pirates. Not adding your voice to one of hatred. But adding it instead as a vibration of the grace.
